Hi there!

I’m Laurie and I started this business in 2022 after spending over 15 years in Healthcare Administration—10 of those dedicated specifically to supporting Mental Health Practices.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with incredible professionals—LMHCs, LICSWs, Psych NPs, etc. One thing was always clear: while they’re amazing at what they do, dealing with billing, insurance, and financial logistics was not what they signed up for. And honestly, why would they?

They didn’t start their practices to chase down insurance payments or spend hours on hold with payers. They don’t enjoy asking clients for money. And they definitely don’t want to waste their time on tedious administrative tasks.

Here’s the weird part: I do.

I genuinely love the work I do—handling the numbers, navigating the insurance maze, and making sure providers get paid without all the stress. My mission is simple: to take the financial pressure off your plate so you can focus on what matters most—your clients.

What sets me apart from other billers is my commitment to individualized support. No two practices are the same, and I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all service. Some clients need regular updates and lots of hands-on guidance—others prefer to set it and forget it. Either way, I’ve got you covered.

…On a personal note, I’m a proud mom of twins who are currently in college (yikes!). My husband and I both work from home—our house is more like a business park these days. The true all-star and backbone of BillingSmith, though, is our French Bulldog, Gus.
